Update on workshops – space is running out

Posted by on Dec 30, 2013 |

We have a thrumb mitten workshop on January 13th from 7pm until 9pm. The cost of the workshop is $55 plus tax and this includes a thrumb mitten kit from Fleece Artist. I currently have only two spots open in the class and only three kits left in the store. If you’re interested in taking this workshop please speak to me as soon as possible. The Beginner Rug Hooking class to be held Jan 19th OR Jan 20th is also almost full. The maximum number of participants is 9 and I have 7 people signed up so far. The cost for this class is $50 and that includes a kit of backing, a hook and some wool to get started. You will need to bring a hoop if you have one but I do have some in the store that you can use while you’re there. Again, if you’re interested in this workshop, please let me know as soon as...

Changing the hours

Posted by on Dec 30, 2013 |

It was always my intention to change the hours after a few months of seeing when the store is busy and when it isn’t. I now know that my current customers don’t shop on Monday night so in the New Year I will be closing the store Mondays for shopping but will have it open for classes. I am also going to close at 8pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but if there is someone in the store then I will stay open until 9. Thursday and Friday won’t change. Saturday I will be open 10am until 5pm and Sunday I will open at noon and close at 4. I will be running classes some Sunday mornings as well. So, the new hours look like this: Monday: Closed Tuesday: 6pm – 8pm Wednesday: 6pm – 8pm Thursday: 6pm – 9pm Friday: 6pm – 9pm Saturday 10am – 5pm Sunday 12pm – 4pm Having said all of that, if you’re in the area and would like to shop outside of these hours please let me know. I live close by and might be able to open outside of these hours with a bit of...

Posted by on Dec 26, 2013 |

Everyone, I wanted to thank you all for your support through the first few months of the opening of Wool-Gathering. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and get everything (gifts, peace and quiet etc) that you always hoped for. As a thank you to you all I am having a sale on the 26th. Almost everything in the store will be 15% off if you’re paying by credit card and if you pay by cash the discount will be 20%. This does not include consignment merchandise such as rug hooking frames, Lady Slipper yarn, Legacy Lane Fiber Mill and Alpaca Avenue yarns and items. Everything else will be on sale. I will be open from 11-3 and will offer skein winding if I’m able to do so. I may have to ask you to come back on the 27th for some of the caked yarn if I get really busy. Please feel free to tell your friends and family about the sale. I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and if I don’t see you before the New Year I wish you all the best in 2014. Take care,...

Interested in Learning How to Hook Rugs??

Posted by on Dec 16, 2013 |

I have had a number of people in to the store asking about a beginner rug hooking class and think I have enough to go ahead. For those of you on my waiting list I will be calling you over the next few days to get you signed up. If you have not been in the store and have not contacted me by email but are interested in taking this class please email me at jo-anne.harris@wool-gathering.com The class will be either Sunday January 19th from 10-1 or Monday January 20th from 6-9. I will find out what the majority would like and can go with that. The cost for the workshop is $50 which is the workshop and the kit fee combined. The kit includes backing, a hook and enough wool to get started on your piece. There are no requirements or pre-requisites for this workshop. If you have a ruler, scissors and a sharpie marker please bring them with you. You don’t need to go out and buy these if you don’t have them, I’ll have some but having your own will let you work at your own speed without waiting for others. I also have hoops available in the store and for a small fee can let you rent them while you work on your piece at home. However, if you have a frame for another craft bring it along to see if it’s suitable. I also have frames in the store available for sale and if you’re sure you’re going to continue with this you might want to buy a frame before the class. I’m excited to introduce traditional rug hooking to you...

Hours over the Holidays and in the New Year

Posted by on Dec 9, 2013 |

I have been asked what my hours will be over the holidays and I’ve just been going merrily along not even realizing how close we’re getting to Christmas. So I guess now that I know Christmas is a little more than two weeks away, it’s time I made a decision. Here’s what I’ve come up with: Monday December 23rd: open 6pm to 8pm Tuesday December 24th: CLOSED Wednesday December 25th: CLOSED Thursday December 26th: open 11am to 2pm (maybe 3pm) Friday December 27th: normal hours 6pm to 9pm but I can open early if anyone wants to call and let me know you’d like to drop by. Saturday December 28th and Sunday December 29th: regular hours 9am to 6pm Monday December 30th: regular hours 6pm to 8pm Tuesday December 31st: CLOSED Wednesday January 1st: CLOSED Thursday January 2nd and beyond – I will be changing these hours but haven’t put enough thought in to this yet. Email me if you have any suggestions on expanded hours you’d like to see. I was thinking of shutting down Monday nights for classes and could open one day a month during the day – maybe the first Monday of the month or something like that. I’m open to suggestions. And if anyone is panicking about all the last minute knitting you’ve got to get finished before Christmas come join me some evening and we can knit together. Having just realized how close the holidays are I too am in a...
